Projects in Planning
Sonoma County Public Infrastructure is actively developing road improvement projects that are not yet out to bid but will be in the near future. These projects are in the planning and design phase, where engineers and staff evaluate road conditions, identify needed improvements, and prepare construction documents. Sharing this information helps the public, contractors, and community partners stay informed about upcoming work before it moves into the bidding stage.
Penngrove Intersection Improvements
The County is looking at ways to improve safety at two intersections in Penngrove.
Freestone Flat Road Bridge Replacement
Sonoma County plans to replace the Freestone Flat Road Bridge over Salmon Creek in southwest Sonoma County. The new bridge will be a two-lane, cast-in-place pre-stressed concrete box-girder supported on cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles at the abutments.
King Ridge Road Bridge Replacement over Austin Creek
Sonoma County plans to replace the one-lane bridge over Austin Creek on King Ridge Road. The new bridge will be a single-span steel girder with two 10-ft lanes (no piers in the creek).
River Road Bridge Replacement over Gill Creek
Sonoma County will replace the two-lane River Road Bridge over Gill Creek in Geyserville.The new structure will be a single-span precast concrete girder bridge with two 11-ft lanes and 2-ft shoulders. A temporary downstream crossing will keep traffic moving during construction.
