Permanent Asti Bridge
What’s Happening?
Sonoma County is working toward building a permanent Asti Bridge to provide reliable, year-round access—especially important during emergencies such as floods or wildfires. The project is estimated to cost $30 million. Property owners may be asked to contribute, depending on grants received and the possible creation of a Bridge Assessment District.
In the meantime, a temporary seasonal bridge continues to provide access, opening each year after June 15 once environmental permits allow. Construction of the temporary bridge takes about two weeks.
How We Got Here
The community has relied on a seasonal temporary bridge for many years. However, growing concerns about emergency access and disaster readiness have made a permanent structure a priority.
Why It Matters
- Provides reliable year-round access, especially during wildfires or floods.
- Strengthens community safety and resiliency.
- Reduces reliance on seasonal temporary crossings.
- Brings long-term certainty for residents, businesses, and emergency responders.
