Penngrove Intersection Improvements
What’s Happening?
The County is looking at ways to improve safety at two intersections in Penngrove:
- Old Redwood Highway North & Ely Road
- Old Redwood Highway North & Railroad Avenue
These intersections have higher-than-average crash and injury rates compared to similar intersections across California.
How We Got Here
Traffic studies showed that both intersections are riskier than most four-way stop intersections. To address this, engineers reviewed several design options to reduce collisions and make the area safer for drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
Why It Matters
These improvements aim to reduce crashes, make walking and biking safer, and improve traffic flow for everyone traveling through Penngrove.
What’s Next
- For the Ely Road intersection, five possible safety improvements were studied.
- For the Railroad Avenue intersection, two possible improvements were studied.
Each option includes cost estimates and timelines. The County will continue reviewing these options, with public input helping guide the next steps.
