Ballot security a priority ahead of Election Day Nov. 5

Ballot security is the top priority of the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters and other state and local jurisdictions. From locks and tamper-evident seals to security cameras and rigorous system checks, your ballot is safeguarded to ensure your voice is heard.

Are you ready for the next earthquake?

During the next earthquake, don’t use a doorway for cover — it’s not safer than anywhere else in your house. Also, don’t run outside because you can fall and/or be injured by debris or glass.

Experts say to DROP, COVER (by getting under a table, if possible) and HOLD ON with one hand while covering our head and neck with the other.

Here are some more DOs:

  • Download the MyShake app to stay ahead of the game: https://earthquake.ca.gov/.
  • Secure your space: Anchor bookshelves, TVs, and anything hanging on walls.
  • Keep it low: Store heavy or breakable items on lower shelves to prevent damage.
  • Have a family plan – make sure everyone knows who to contact outside the county and where to meet if you’re separated.
  • Stock up – your emergency kit should have enough supplies for at least seven days.
