Sonoma County health officials issue freeze warning

The County of Sonoma is issuing a freeze warning in response to the National Weather Service’s (NWS) prediction for freezing overnight lows expected through Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. NWS has also issued a Flash Flood Watch for the region Tuesday at 4 p.m. through Thursday at 4 p.m., and a High Wind Watch for Tuesday at 7 p.m. through Wednesday at 10 a.m. Officials recommend that residents limit time outdoors, as serious medical conditions including hypothermia and frostbite, can develop with prolonged cold weather exposure. Due to heavy rains within burn scar areas, landslide and debris flows are a potential threat to those living in these areas or traveling on adjacent roads.

County of Sonoma program called Coordinated Entry is available to offer shelter, services and housing to people experiencing homelessness. The program prioritizes those who are most in need of assistance and provides crucial information that helps communities strategically allocate resources and identify gaps in service. Sonoma County’s Coordinated Entry system employs a Housing First model that prioritizes individuals and families facing the highest vulnerability and needs for permanent, supportive housing. dditionally, the County reminds residents to be aware of changes in the environmental landscape in their area. Changes caused by fire, wind or rain may affect storm-water drainage on slopes resulting in land movement, flows and slides. If you feel you may be in danger, evacuate.
