Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Offers New Ballot Tracking Service

The Sonoma County Registrar of Voters has announced that Sonoma County voters can now sign up for Vote by Mail ballot tracking, through the Secretary of State’s “Where’s My Ballot” program.  Voters can receive information about the location of their ballot, from the time it is mailed until it is returned to the Registrar of Voters Office and counted, in real time. Voters who sign up can have assurance that their ballots are accounted for at every stage.

Sonoma County Clerk Deva Marie Proto states, “This is an exciting opportunity for our County to participate in a program to increase transparency around the ballot process, allow voters to receive status updates on their ballots, and help our office communicate important information to voters. This information includes deadlines for returning ballots, when a voter can expect their ballot to arrive in their mailbox, when the ballot is received by the office, when the ballot is counted and if there are any issues with the ballot.” Voters can sign up to participate in the program at http://wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov/.  A voter can choose to receive email, text or voicemail messages regarding the status of their ballot.  

The program is offered at no cost to the County. The “Where’s My Ballot” program is currently being offered by 25 other California Election Offices, with more expected to participate before the November 2020 election.
