Re-entry Materials, Supplies Available for Residents Returning to Burned Areas

Residents returning to areas burned in the Glass Fire are asked to visit  supply and support stations (also called commodity points of distribution or CPODs) operated by the County of Sonoma and the City of Santa Rosa to receive critical safety information and equipment.  

Residents of burned areas are encouraged to go to the stations to receive safety materials. Staff will verify residents’ addresses. Materials will include: 

• 1 Home Depot Bucket
• 1 garbage bag
• 4 KN 95 masks
• 4 surgical masks
• 4 pairs of gloves 
• 1 small bottle hand sanitizer
• 1 personal size packet of towelettes or hand wipes, enough for 4 people
• 4 individual water bottles
• 4 goggles
• 4 pairs of shoe covers (Tyvek bootie style)

In addition to supplies, residents will receive important safety information. The public is reminded that ash isn’t a safe material and should be handled cautiously. 

Although some stations are opening to distribute equipment to individuals, this doesn’t mean that all residents are allowed back into their neighborhood or burned site. Residents must await further notification that it is safe to enter the burned areas and that evacuation orders have been lifted or reduced. 

Drive-through supply stations will be open starting today at 3 p.m. Residents will be asked to remain in their cars and to wear facial coverings. The stations are open to city and county residents and are at the following locations:

Hours: Weds. Oct. 7 3pm - 7pm.
Thurs. October 8 through Monday October 12, 2020
10 a.m.-7 p.m. 

Please continue to adhere to road closures and any evacuation warnings. Alerts will be sent for each area as it re-opens. Residents should continue to follow the instructions of first responders in the area. View a map of the current Evacuation Zones.  

Please drive slowly and yield to emergency personnel in the area. Some road closures still remain in effect. View a map of current road closures on the Fire Incident Map. 

The county is still under public health orders for COVID-19, so guidelines for physical distancing, wearing a facial covering and not gathering with people outside of your household are still in effect.  

Continue to wear a cloth or surgical mask to protect yourself against COVID-19, but note they do not protect you from wildfire smoke. Instead, wear a N95 respirator mask to protect your lungs from wildfire smoke. If your N95 has a one-way valve, prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a cloth face covering or surgical mask on top of your N95 mask.
