PG&E Will Not Initiate Large-Scale Power Shutoff in Sonoma County

The County of Sonoma and City of Santa Rosa have been informed by PG&E that due to improved weather conditions for our area, the agency does not plan to initiate the large-scale power shutoff originally planned for portions of Sonoma County. However, PG&E is still planning to shutoff power in a limited area of unincorporated eastern Sonoma County along Porter Creek Road, affecting less than 1,000 customers. At this time, no shutoffs are scheduled for the City of Santa Rosa or the remainder of the County. Residents living in the affected area along Porter Creek Road should expect to lose power as early as 4:30 A.M. on Wednesday. Restoration of power could take up to 48 hours. 

While a large-scale outage is not anticipated to occur, the Red Flag warning issued by the National Weather Service for upper elevations remains in effect through 11 A.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2019 and a heat advisory remains in effect through 7 P.M. on Wednesday. Due to the forecasted weather conditions, several fire agencies across the County will have extra staffing in place for the critical fire weather and residents are encouraged to remain vigilant.

Customers can update contact information to receive notifications sent by PG&E online or by phone, in English at 1-866-743-6589 and in Spanish at 1-866-743-6589 Residents can also check if their home is in an area where power may be shut off on PG&E’s website.
