“I am very excited to welcome Mr. Threet as Director of the Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Outreach,” said Board of Supervisors Chair Efren Carrillo. “This position is critical to the implementation of the Community and Local Law Enforcement (CALLE) Task Force recommendations for the independent review of Sonoma County law enforcement, improved transparency and collaborative efforts to improve relations between the community and law enforcement.”

I will continue to work toward those same goals in this new position,” said Threet.
In 2000, Mr. Threet managed the successful political campaign of a neighborhood activist, helping elect Jake McGoldrick county supervisor for the Richmond District of San Francisco and served as Mr. McGoldrick’s chief of staff during his first four years as County Supervisor. Prior to 2000, he completed a clerkship with the presiding judge of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, served as a Litigation Attorney assigned to the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice, and as a contract attorney with the Northern California U.S. Attorney’s Office where his work included class action racial discrimination litigation
Mr. Threet is a graduate of the University of Texas Liberal Arts Plan II Honors Program with high honors in 1983, Mr. Threet received a joint degree in Law and Public Policy from the University of Texas in 1988.
As Director, Mr. Threet will launch the newly established IOLERO Office, developing a work plan that includes the creation of a citizen’s advisory board and youth council. He will work closely with the Sheriff’s Office on improving relationships and trust through transparency and community engagement.
Threet has also served as volunteer president of the Harvey Milk Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Democratic Club, member of the San Francisco Green County Council, member of the Berkeley Public Works Commission, President of the Board of Directors of the Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco, and has volunteered his time for multiple organizations serving disadvantaged communities.
