Ballots in mail today for March 2, 2021 Special Election

Today the Vote-by-Mail ballots for the March 2, 2021, Special Election will begin going out to all active, registered voters who have elected to receive their ballots in the mail residing in the West Sonoma County Union High School District and/or the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District. Vote-by-Mail voters should expect to receive their ballots within five to 10 days. Also starting today, voters who want their ballots sooner may come to the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Office at 435 Fiscal Drive in Santa Rosa to pick them up. A voter may also authorize somebody to pick up their ballot for them with a signed note.

 

Voters may return their Vote-by-Mail ballots in three ways:

  1. Sending them back in the mail, no postage required. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before March 2 (Election Day) and received at the Registrar of Voters Office by March 5 in order to be counted.
  2. Depositing them in one of 20 ballot drop boxes installed throughout the County. The drop boxes will be open 24/7 from February 2 at 8:00 AM until March 2 (Election Day) at 8:00 PM.
  3. Taking them to one of 20 polling places open on March 2 (Election Day) from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

In the event that a Vote-by-Mail voter never receives their ballot or needs a replacement, the voter can request a ballot be mailed to them through February 23. After February 23, requests for Vote-by-Mail ballots must be made in person at the Registrar of Voters Office. The Registrar of Voters Office is located at 435 Fiscal Drive, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 and is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding February 12 and 15. If residents visit the office they should plan to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Voters who have not signed up for Vote-by-Mail should refer to the back of their County Voter Information Guide to find out their assigned polling place for this election.
