Joanne M. Brown, MSW, JD
Joanne is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where she received her MSW and JD.
Her background includes serving as a Superior Court Commissioner in Alameda County; General Counsel for the Department of Children Youth and Families in New Mexico; Associate County Counsel for Montgomery County, Maryland; and as a national consultant for the Center for Children and the Law (American Bar Association).
Joanne has consulted for local, state and federal agencies in all components of the juvenile justice and criminal justice systems. Currently, she sits as a pro tem judge and provides consulting services to attorneys and public agencies. She is also President of the Board of Directors of the Life Learning Academy (a charter school for at-risk adolescents serving the Bay Area), located on Treasure Island.
Joanne currently serves on the Sonoma Valley Citizens Advisory Committee, on the Board of Directors of FISH (Friends in Sonoma Helping), and on the Board of AMICUS (County Law Library non profit).
Joanne is an ardent Oakland Athletics and Cal Bears fan and lives in Sonoma.
