In 2017, theTubbs Fire struck Napa, Sonoma, and Lake Counties and nearly 6,000 structureswere destroyed, many of them homes. The County of Sonomaannounced today that Assessor Deva Marie Proto and Tax Collector Erick Roeserare working together with Cal-Fire and other County departments to identify andadjust property tax values for properties damaged by the Kincade Fire. Propertyowners with over $10,000 in damage may be eligible to defer their firstproperty tax installment if they submit an Application for Reassessment ofProperty Damage by Misfortune or Calamity (Calamity Reassessment Applications)to the Assessor no later than December 10, 2019.
